Designing a careers site candidates actually finish applying on

Most application flows lose great candidates before the last click. Here is what we changed.

The Narbad Team

Building the suite

Ask anyone who has job-hunted recently: the worst part is not rejection, it is the application itself. Create an account. Upload a CV. Now retype everything from the CV into eleven form fields. Now do it again for the next company.

Every extra minute of that flow filters out the candidates with the most options, which is exactly the opposite of what a careers site is for.

What we did instead

The careers site every Narbad workspace gets is deliberately boring in the best way: open roles listed clearly, a role page that says what the job actually is, and an application that asks for a CV and the few things a CV cannot contain. No account creation. No retyping your work history.

The retyping is our job. Recruit parses the CV into a structured profile the moment it arrives, so the hiring team gets clean data without making the candidate produce it twice.

Respect is a feature

Candidates who apply through a Narbad careers site can join their scheduled interviews from the same place, and the flow works just as well from a phone as a laptop. None of this is glamorous. All of it decides whether the person you most want to hire is still in your pipeline on Friday.
